Shasta, from a GDI's point of view →
As someone with a few casual friends in Fraternity and Sorority Life, I’ve heard snippets of what Shasta’s all about. Through Facebook posts, Instagrams, tweets, and the soon-to-be inevitable Vines, I’ve pieced together an outline of the festivities.
1. The activity begins about three months before the actual trip, when the first girl on campus utters the phrase “getting ready for Shasta.” It...

rara avis: sunrise / sunset →
shutl0w:
then the sun set and i found austin on a tiny corner on bleecker street and we shut ourselves in a bar that knew exactly what music to play and when and i had a beer that tasted crisp and green like dandelions. when i think about times and places i’d like to be i am adding this memory to the list: everything fully, and no expectation, and the possibility of all and any option glimmering...

Things that have happened in New York City so far:
Crazy cab ride that felt like a roller coaster and was everything I ever expected in a trip from JFK to Manhattan
Got overwhelmed in Times Square and stared everywhere and nowhere at once
Standing in line with one of the actresses from Homeland
Upright Citizens Brigade show featuring monologues by Vinnie from Jersey Shore
Subway adventures
Grand Central Station whisper corners, midnight...

Brands on the Tumblr Radar // Go big or find a...
dannybrito:
tumblr radar is basically just for sneaking ads onto your dash, its so annoying to me. like it used to be really cool stuff, but now it’s ads for mtv crap and american apparel jeans.
Half of me wholeheartedly agrees with you. How dare those corporations invade what is almost overwhelmingly seen by its users as a private space. What’s more personal than a blog? Not including...

http://dribbble.com/yo_powe →
Just launched a Dribbble prospect profile! I’ve been using my Pinterest to collect design inspiration but pins rarely link back to the original creator. I’m optimistic that this will be more efficient (no hair tutorials to clog up the stream of information) and keep the work connected to the content creators.
Hoping to find an invite eventually so I can post instead of just like/bucket content....

My redesign of The Writer. For my final project in Magazine Design we were asked to find a publication that was in dire need of a facelift and rebrand. I picked The Writer because it felt very newsletter-y and didn’t live up to what I imagined a creative industry magazine could be.
I developed it into a more literary-feeling publication with a stronger focus on typography and words rather than...

Why it's not fair that I'm not Jennifer Lawrence →
1. Jennifer Lawrence tripped up some stairs and the pictures/video spread across the internet like a bad Pope Francis joke. I trip and no one makes GIFs of me. I have to pretend that I meant to do a quick skipping step and then laugh it off, quickly walking away and cackling to no one in particular to show that yes I am so funny and I can take a joke and look at what I just did hahahaHAHA

A short ode to the Can-People of Eugene →
“At 3:00 AM on the first night in my new apartment last September, I had one of those Buyer’s Remorse moments that makes you regret every single decision that led you to sign on the dotted line of your lease.
I’d awoken in my new room (I’d put together a bedframe, I’d organized my bookshelf; I was all moved in and it looked like a REAL ADULT lived here!) to the sounds of rustling glass and a...

People who 'get it.' →
(An article I wrote a few weeks ago for quackd.com was just published. Here’s the first bit—click through to read the rest.)
This is a PSA about ‘getting it.’ But not ‘getting it’ in the traditional collegiate sense of the phrase. I’m not talking about getting a little bedroom action on the weekends. Joseph Ocon kind of knows what I’m talking about:
“I’m not interested in material gain like...

Six more movies we would love to live in. Who can... →
(An article I co-wrote for Quackd.com with my best friend, Hannah. Here’s our first two… click the link for the rest of the list!)
1) Star Wars: Episode 1
One word: Podracers. And those yellow rocket droid ships. Really, any flying vehicle in this movie. Unfortunately, that means you’re a pilot, and you get killed in the battle of Gungan City, which is pretty much the worst battle...
